This class is for those who have never painted or who have just started painting and want to have FUN layering collage papers and acrylic. We will explore some basic design and painting techniques and play with materials creatively using our intuition and improvisation. You will have enough experience to begin your own practice of painting! All materials are provided with a fee to cover costs!
Color and Basic Drawing for New Artists

This workshop will explore basic drawing techniques and exercises using line, expressive shapes, and edge variation. Using acrylic, we will learn about color pigments, practice mixing and discover new color ideas for your painting practice. Materials included. Please bring bag lunch for ½ hour break!
Designing in Color
March 12 & 13, 2019
An in depth study of color that will take you and your painting to new levels of understanding. We will begin with a series of exercises designed to explore pigments, color mixing and use of various color palettes. The mixing and use of neutrals, creating luminosity, the art of creating deep luminous color through glazing, color relationships and how to make colors pop will be developed. The art of creating space and depth will be explored. Please bring bag lunch for ½ hour break!
Reinventing the Still Life Abstractly
April 9, 10 & 11, 2019
Painting with acrylic, we will translate the still life into a personal, inventive, and powerful abstract visual statement. We will work in sketchbooks for knowledge of the subject and exaggeration of form. Developing ideas will be isolated and cropped to develop dynamic and abstract compositions which will be transferred to canvas for further exploration. Emphasis is on line, shape, imaginative color and surface complexity! Previous painting experience is necessary! Please bring bag lunch for ½ hour break!
